The Texas Coastal Bend

On September 25, 2017, Hurricane Harvey slammed ashore on the Texas Coast. With winds peaking at 150 mph, and probably higher, Harvey ravaged south Texas. Storm surges were estimated at 10-12 feet. Many homes and businesses ceased to exist. Numerous tornadoes added to the damage.
But Harvey wasn’t done.
Instead of going inland and weakening, Harvey pause and dumped heavy rains. Over 40” in 48 hours. Houston nearly drowned.

So why would you want to come to the Texas Coast?

Many families, church groups, disaster relief groups, and organizations have come to the area. Thanks to their generosity and willingness to do a relief-cation, homes are being
repaired and businesses are reopening. Want to help? There is plenty work left to do.
South Texas has some great beaches with a small hometown feel to it. Much of the Coast will not have high rises.
Mustang Island, South Padre Island offer some great get away spots. Can’t afford a trip to the Florida Keys or Bahamas? South Texas is at the same longitude. It offers great beaches, birding opportunities, fishing, dolphin boat trips and more.
